Arrivederci Terrazzo - Salve Travertine!

The final bid for terrazzo came in at just over $340,000. We have tried to figure out how to have some terrazzo inside and another element outside but at this time we're giving up.

We are now looking at having polished Travertine inside and honed Travertine around the pool and upper decks. The paths around the house will be acid stained concrete.

Hopefully, with the cost savings that this allows we can still do the glazed terra cotta tile on the roof

Permit?

This should be the week that we get our permit! In the meantime we are going through where we may be able to reduce some costs on the construction.

There seems to be some movement!

One of our contractors has notified us a an estimated cost to build... even he drew a deep breath when he told us the number. The second contractor is not hiding any costs from us and is forwarding on all the bids from subs so we can review them. One estimate for the retractable screens for the lanai doors came in at over $9k... one piece of good news is the the retractable doors that lead out to the pool will be much less than the $100K that we thought they may cost!

I'm glad I ordered the tent that fits in the bed of the Dakota as that is what we may be calling home if the prices continue to be like this!
